technique: low, Our house reef is right at the dive center. The entry is made by a "big step" from the boat dock, or via a staircase. The rapidly sloping terrain reaches a depth of 21m. We are accompanied by a swarm of gold belts, which has become accustomed to feeding by hotel guests and bathers. Before we leave the bay in a westerly direction, we meet a small wreck of a sunken sports boat and a large anchor, which is supposed to belong to one of the Palma wrecks. We reach an artificial reef of large concrete blocks and natural rocks. We continue the dive at a depth of 15m and meet all kinds of fish. It is not uncommon to find barracudas who enjoy the sardines which are also liked as food by the cormorants. Here and there we welcome an octopus and in the spring also snails. Since two years we are happy to discover a seahorse once a while in seagrass.
technique: middle, high On the sea side of the west dam, south of the port of Palma are 4 modern ship wrecks of considerable size. The largest of the wrecks is a modern cargo ship of 60m length. It is located at 27m depth in a natural position. By boat we leave the base in an easterly direction. Passing the caves of Porto Pie it goes towards Palma. We drive parallel to the west dam and have turned on the sounder to locate the wrecks. We recognize the wreck clearly on the graphics of the echo sounder, because the antenna mast of the sunken freighter reaches to 18m below the water surface. We drop the anchor and dive along the anchor rope. technics: middle Leaving the base in northeastern direction we will soon reach the dive spot Caves of Porto Pi. The dive site consists of 2 caves and a tunnel. First we take aim at the tunnel entrance and witness the play of light that the sunrays cause when they break through the tunnel ceiling in some places. Not infrequently we meet scorpionfish and nudibranchs here. We leave the tunnel behind us and soon we reach the first cave. The entrance is at a depht of 7 m and offers enough space for a trouble-free swim through. In the cave we have a constant water temperature of 22 °C. Especially in the cooler seasons this temperature difference is very impressing.
technique: low, middle Opposite the "3 Fingerbucht", southwest of the dive center, lies the island El Sec. A few years ago the island was known because of the submarine "Nemo". It invited the tourists on a journey into the underwater world around this island. In order to offer the customers something special 3 ships were sunk at this time. Their remains are still clearly recognizable today. The entertainment of the inmates also included the divers, who offered the guests a unique show with their fish feeding. The convenience of simple food intake is still in the fishes blood today and we find out that during our dive we are accompanied by some fishes hoping for a quick snak.
